Hello! I'm 14 and I will be a freshman this school year. I've always had a hard time making friends. I was VERY socially awkward in elementary school and went to a tiny middle school where everyone got into drama while we were in I quarantine. I have two girls I still talk to from my school, but I still want to meet new people. I wouldn't consider myself an introvert, but I do have anxiety which can sometimes get in the way of things. I was wondering if anybody had ideas on how to reach out and meet new people during online school? I don't have Snapchat mainly because I don't really know how to use it correctly and because I'm a bit self-conscious with pictures, so Snapchat is a no go for socialization.

Thank you! My school is doing all online for the first 9 weeks at least, but I'm hoping there might be some group projects with zoom so I can meet people. I think I'm going to join newspaper, swim (if they have it hopefully we can still have a season) and maybe science olympiad so that's were I'm hoping to make friends
Hi, i’m exactly the same way with not considering myself an introvert, but still having that worry feeling about what people might think of me! If you’re doing online classes, it might be tough to meet new people from classes. However, if you are going to school in person, talk to the people you sit next to in class. Even saying hello or complimenting their outfit can lead to an easy conversation. Don’t be afraid to take initiative and strike up a conversation with someone you want to be friends with. Even if it’s only a minute long. And join school clubs!! I joined theatre freshman year, and everyone was so welcoming. You’ll make friends in no time 🌼
